Joe Cokanasiga signs as a Maximuscle ambassador

England and Bath winger Joe Cokanasiga has signed with Maximuscle as their newest ambassador, following a successful year in which he burst onto the scene with Bath Rugby and made is England debut. The 193cm & 122kg winger says being selected in England’s World Cup squad would complete an incredible meteoric rise in the sport.Just over two years ago he was picked from obscurity for England’s summer tour of Argentina prompting a move to Bath Rugby from London Irish. Now, he’s hoping to make the cut when Eddie Jones finalises his squad for Japan and would go with the aim of lifting the Webb Ellis Cup. “It’s weird to think just two years ago I was playing for the England U20s preparing for a junior World Cup. I had no idea that I would get called up to the senior team let alone be in contention for an actual World Cup.

“When I was first selected to tour Argentina, the British Lions were touring and we were told four or five players were going to be called up from the U20s to the England squad but in my mind there was no way I was going to be one of them. I was getting my hair cut when an email came through from England marked ‘confidential’ and I couldn’t believe it. I stopped the hair cut and rang my sister who started crying then I contacted my mum and she did the same so it really means a lot to them and as well as me. I was really nervous the first time I met up with England and that’s not changed, I still brick it ahead of every training session and every match! I’m just keeping my fingers crossed now that I make it onto the plane to Japan.”

Cokanasiga’s profile and standing in the game is growing all time and the 21-year-old powerhouse has just been announced as the latest big name to sign as a Maximuscle ambassador, a move to help him get to the top of the sport.

“We want to win the World Cup, that’s what England is going there for and if I make the squad then my aim is to the best winger out there, that’s my ambition. Striving to be the best is the aim whether I’m playing in the Premiership or internationally.
