DONE DEAL: ISC sign Evan Newton & agree loan deal to USL
US-born goalkeeper Evan Newton has signed with ISC and agreed to a loan deal to USL club El Paso Locomotive FC from the Vancouver Whitecaps. The 2018 USL Championship Golden Glove winner carries an illustrious career that sees him standing at the top of the USL Championship as the All-Time Clean Sheets (50) and Saves Leader (478).After being drafted by MLS club Houston Dynamo from Old Dominion University in 2011, he started building a successful career in the MLS and USL. In 2012 he joined San Jose Earthquakes and then moved to the USL to Phoenix Rising making an impressive 111 saves in 28 matches in his first season. In 2018 Newton joined FC Cincinnati playing 20 matches helping the club clinch the USL Championship Regular Season Title with a .80 Goals Against Average. Newton was awarded the 2018 USL Championship Golden Glove award as a member of FC Cincinnati and previously played two seasons with Sacramento Republic FC, as well as a season with both Oklahoma City Energy FC and Arizona United SC.
The native of Virginia Beach, Virginia then signed with Indy Eleven, making a total of 42 appearances and earning 12 clean sheets over two seasons to reach the 2019 Eastern Conference Final. Most recently, he returned to MLS, signing with Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2021. Entering his 12th year as a professional, Newton has amassed 178 starts and 56 career clean sheets across all competitions.
