New York City FC’s Maxime Chanot signs with ISC

New York City and Luxembourg international, Maxime Chanot has signed with ISC.

The powerful centre-back is highly rated in the MLS, and was ranked as #1 defender in the MLS in 2020 by Wyscout, and was twice voted as the best defender in Belgium whilst at previous club KV Kortrijk.

Chanot made a name for himself whilst at Belgian side, WS Woluwe, and was named one of the 20 Best Second Division Players in Belgium by Sport/Foot Magazine in 2012. He signed with KV Kortrijk in 2013 where he thrived, twice winning the award for Best Defender in Belgium. He is still fondly remembered by the club, being named to their Team of the Decade in 2019.

In 2016, moved to the MLS and New York City FC. He has become a mainstay in the club’s back four, appearing as captain several times and, as of March 2020, he has appeared in 94 games for the team, 93 as a starter.

Chanot has also made over 30 appearances for the Luxembourg national team.
